UX/UI Design
LiU wanted to redesign its event calendar for activities and events taking place at the university, with designs for both desktop and mobile. The goal was to make it easier for students to quickly find relevant activities and events.
The project was completed during my internship at the design and advertising agency Familjen in 2024. I worked across research, prototyping and visual design, following LiU’s visual identity.

Goal
Students found it difficult to find relevant activities in the existing event calendar. The navigation was unclear, filtering options were limited, and the event cards felt cluttered.
Our goal was to improve the user experience and create a clearer, more intuitive calendar for both desktop and mobile, with improved navigation, filtering and clearer event cards, making it easier for students to find activities that suited them.
Solution
To simplify the search experience, we designed a filter menu that allows students to sort events by type, such as lectures, seminars and social activities. The filter menu provides a quick overview and makes it easier to find the right activity.
The event cards also use tags to visually distinguish between different types of activities, allowing students to quickly scan the calendar without having to read through all the details.
To accommodate both one-day and multi-day events, we used two different layouts. One-day events are displayed as horizontal cards for quick scanning, while multi-day events use vertical cards, allowing for more detailed information without disrupting the overall overview.
